Can you believe that January is already behind us? Time flies when you're busy.
I've been working in my office a lot these days trying to get gigs, advertising for upcoming shows and getting paper work done for taxes. Blah... I must confess, my terrific husband has been the one doing most of that grueling job. It's a good thing I married such a wonderful and supportive husband. Besides doing the taxes, he also keeps my website up to date (which he also designed) and creates other projects like the new video he made of our daughter Chantal. You can view the video by going to my home page and click on the link for the "Chantal Dubois Memorial Fund".
Please visit my Shows page to have a look where I'll be performing in the next few months. I'm really excited about the country dance that I am self promoting here in Duncan next month. Saturday, March 19th. I have talked with a lot of people in the past few months that say they love country music but there's no venue to go listen or dance. So I decided to put on my own country dance. The band and I are looking forward to it.
In the next few weeks, I'm going to have an announcement for all of my hometown friends and fans in Peace River, Alberta. Watch for it on Facebook!
I continue to write my own songs and with other writers. I have a few new songs that I have videotaped and put up on youtube. They are also on my website on the Video page. "Maybe" is a co-write with a lady out of Victoria - her name is Nancy Watson. Nancy and I first met through email last October or November and it wasn't until a few weeks ago that we met in person. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/ShellyDubois01#p/u/2/VzXfCHjbFm4
Another new song is one that I wrote called "I Know You're Here". It has taken me awhile to write this one because it is a very emotional song for me. I really want to share it with others who have also lost a child to cancer. Here's the link and please feel free to share it: http://www.youtube.com/user/ShellyDubois01#p/u/1/p_bycCI6dhw. These songs will definitely be on my next CD.
And speaking of the next CD - I am putting together my material and I have been speaking with Canadian award winning producer Bart McKay out of Saskatoon. Lots of 'numbers' to put together and lots of ideas. It takes a lot of money and promotion to get one's music career going so I am looking for investors to help me get this off the ground.
I am very appreciative and I am very blessed to have so many people around me that believe in me and support my music. I look forward to getting out on the road and singing my heart out for you.
Shelly
